Yola S. Ventresca, Partner, LernersWebsite: https://www.lerners.ca/yola-ventresca/I am a partner at Lerners LLP in London, Ontario. In 2017, I was named a Lexpert Rising Star: a leading Canadian lawyer under 40. In 2016, I was named one of London’s “20 under 40” by Business London Magazine. I am a Lexpert ranked leading lawyer in Canada. I am an active member of the Advocates’ Society; I am currently an executive member of the 10+ standing committee; I will hold the role of Chair during the 2020-2021 term. I am engaged in a broad litigation based practice. I act on medical defence cases, where I assist various regulated health professionals in resolving a variety of issues with their regulators and in defending against civil actions. I act in complex cases, including sexual abuse, compromised infant cases, privacy breaches and medical assistance in dying. I also act in labour and administrative/labour law matters, assisting various clients, including, notably, various post-secondary institutions/unions. This is complemented by an active employment law/human rights practice. I’m deeply committed to my community. I was honoured to Chair the St. Joseph’s Hospice Handbags for Hospice Committee for 2 years. I lead Lerners’ Shoebox Project for Shelters effort and am a board member of the Huron University College Alumni Association. I am also a member of the Children’s Health Foundation Magical Winter Ball Committee. I am also committed to the advancement of women in our profession I am the founder and co-chair of the Lerners Women’s Symposium; a forum designed to empower professional women. I also founded the first women’s breakfast for lawyers in London. I am an active speaker and author on various legal subjects. |
